How do you get your inspiration for the outfits you wear ?
I am mainly inspired by other bloggers, but other than that I tend to find everything inspirational. Just looking down my local highstreet; scanning through lookbook.nu; looking at nature; and researching different decades; all give me ideas for what to wear.
Who has had the biggest fashon influence on your outfits ?
Other bloggers and my peers because I don't want to be a clone of everyone else my age.
What blogs and websites do you follow and why ?
I follow quite a few; The Clothes Horse and Dressed up like a lady; for their amazing outfits and posts. The Bunny On The Moon, jazzabelle's diary, MOSS LANE and Tweet; for their fantastic posts. And a lot more, but there's too many to name.

Would you describe yourself as a trendsetter or fashion follower ?
Although I don't often follow trends, I would probally say I am a fashion follower. That is because I am definatly not a trendsetter, most of what I wear I get inspired of other people and put my own spin on it, they are the true trendsetters.

How would you describe your style ?
I am not really sure; it tends to change all the time. I like to wear colours but also like to be unique with what I wear. However I wish i had more confidence with my style because then I would be able to wear more mad clothes.

Does the hosiery you wear dictate the clothes, outfit you wear ?
If they are coloured or patterned yes, but sometimes I just wear them to keep me warm.

What is in your hosiery drawer or closet ?
All my hosiery is all stuffed inside a draw along with my shorts, it's all a big mess and I really need to clear it out. I have about 6 simple bright coloured tights, a lot of black ones, a few pairs with random holey patterns and an awful amount of kneehigh socks.

How do you choose your hosiery ?
Well first I look at price, then out how comfy they feel and then decide if I will ever actually wear them. At the moment I am trying to choose whether or not, to buy some tights from the Jack Wills online outlet; the problem with buying tights online is you don't know what they feel like.

Where do you shop for hoseiry ?
I like to shop at Primark for cheap, colourful ones and Marks and Spencers for wooly holey ones.

What was the last item of hosiery you brought, how much you spent etc ?
I last bought some polka dot tights from Marks and Spencers for £6.

Do you prefer sheer or opaque tights, stockings or holdups, socks or kneehighs, sheer toe or reinforced ?
Definatly opaque; I don't wear stockings or holdups; that's a hard one but would have to be kneehighs; and I don't have a preferance between steer toe and reinforced.
Do you ever wear 10 denier tights or sheer hose if so how long do they last you ?
I don't think I have ever worn 10 denier tights or sheer tights, so I don't know.

How does wearing tights make you feel emotionally ? More feminine, better with girly outfits not thought about it ?
I've never really thought about it but I used to wear alot of wool tights as a young child and wearing wooly tights always reminds me of those great times; I think sometimes they make me act childish. They also make me feel more feminine and free.

Do you physically like the feel of tights and touch ?  Do your legs ache less, prefer than pants ? not thought about it ?
I find tights really comfy; proberly more comfy than jeans and becuase of that I wear them a lot.

When do you wear hosiery,daily-once a week etc ?
It really depends because some weeks I wear them daily but other weeks I wear them about once. But one thing I am sure of is when it is Summer I am really going to miss them.

What is your hosiery staple ?
Proberly plain black ones, as I can wear them to school and they go with almost everything.
What are your style tips for wearing tights ?
Tights don't have to be worn by themselves you can pair them with other tights; making your oufit more interesting and keeping you warmer.

How do you put on tights ?
I sit on my bed and do one leg at a time.

Do you keep a spare pair of tights in your bag ?
Not at the moment, but that is a genius idea as I usual carry big bags and spare tights would come in useful all the time.

The best and worst things about hosiery, Love-hate ?
The best thing about tights would have to be the fact that they are so versitile, easy to wear and brighten up any outfit. However the worst thing would have to be when you get a hole in them because they are so delicate.

Do you recycle your tights ?
No, although once I made a rats tail from an old pair of sheer tights for my brothers fancy dress outfit.

VB in Wolford tights

Victoria wore a pair of Wolford Nostalgia fan-pattern tights when leaving LA earlier this week. The tights are inspired by Oriental fan patterns and they will certainly add spice and texture to any ensemble (they certainly added a bit of flare to Victoria's basic look).

You can purchase your very own pair at Net-a-Porter here for $65.

The first manufacturer to recycle tights ?

North Carolina-based legwear manufacturer No nonsense, wants your used pantyhose, stockings and tights - any brand - for its recycling program.
Their website says that “used pantyhose can be turned into such things as park benches, playground equipment, carpets, ropes and even toys.”
So, if you’re in the US send your unwanted nylons and take the first steps toward a better planet.

Why recycle pantyhose?

While we love the way sheer hosiery looks on legs, we're not as thrilled to see them in landfills. At No nonsense®, we're happy to announce the first pantyhose recycling program. It's a step toward a greener planet, and it's one that you can help us take.

For pantyhose, there's now life after legs.

Yes, we know people have found some inventive purposes for used pantyhose.Gardeners use them to tie tomato plants to stakes. And of course, they make really scary Halloween masks. But now used pantyhose can be turned into such things as (and we're not kidding here) park benches, playground equipment, carpets, ropes and even toys. Who knew that pantyhose could be such a miracle product? As if transforming a pair of legs weren't enough!
How do you take this step with us?It's simple. First download a mailing label. Now go round up your pantyhose, nylon knee highs and tights and box them up. (Yes, we'll accept all brands.) Take your box to the nearest shipping location and send it on its way. We'll collect all the pantyhose in one of our North Carolina plants and send it all to a recycling facility. Then you can start looking for that new bench in your favorite park.
You never know, right?

We're working on programs involving retailers and large organizations. Stay tuned for news on how you can be an even bigger part of our recycling program. We hope all pantyhose will soon find a life beyond legs.

Feel Better?
Hmm, that drawer does look a little neater now, doesn't it? And you've taken a positive step by helping save natural resources. Now, feel free to make your legs look and feel better. You can order No nonsense® Made In U.S.A. sheer hosiery and tights at nononsense.com. There. We feel better doing this, and we hope you do, too.

Thanks

We look forward to receiving your shipment!

Packing Tips
A single box costs less than several small boxes.
A sturdy box prevents crushing.
No need to place hosiery within a plastic bag inside the box.
Shipping Options
USPS [www.usps.com] now offers Priority Flat Rate boxes and shipping. Check out their website for rates and options or call 1-800-ASK-USPS for help.
If using FedEx [www.fedex.com] or UPS [www.ups.com] choose Ground Service and check that you're mailing to a business for lower rates. Visit their websites or call FedEx 1-800-463-3339 or UPS 1-800-742-5877 for help.

We appreciate your help with covering shipping expenses for your unwanted pantyhose and taking steps with us toward a better planet.

Spotted tights

Spotted tights seem to be the big thing this fall. Dotted tights were all over the catwalk, and it's super easy to get the look on the high street. The pair above is available from Miss Selfridge.

Recycled tights necklace tutorial

Like any gal who lives in sub-zero temperatures I have a rather extensive collection of tights. Consequently I also throw many of them away when they get holes and ladders in them. I have zero patience which makes me rip them on too fast. This, coupled with a nasty habit of crawling around on the floor make my poor tights rarely last longer than a season. I was so upset when my yellow tights bit the dust recently and I decided it was far too soon for our relationship to end. So I shredded them to pieces and made a necklace out of them. I’m a heartless wench.

I just cut the legs off the body of the tights and cut the toes off.
Then I cut each leg open and cut them into strips, roughly 1cm wide.
Then I tied each end to an earring finding making sure that each layer was longer than the last. This sometimes meant tying two lengths together and trying it on to check that it was falling correctly.
Then I tied shorter pieces of stocking at irregular intervals along my strands. I also bought a DIY stud kit and put studs all along the strands and ties. I sewed a few silver charms on it too.
Then I added a clasp and chain so I could wear it at different lengths. If you’re going to make this yourself I suggest that you wear it often through out the process of making it so you can gauge the shape and length of it. The total cost of the piece was $1.50. The tights, earring findings and chain were all junk that was lying around my house and the stud kit cost $1.50 from a discount store. Even if I had to buy the findings and chain it wouldn’t have cost more than a couple of dollars.
